Reflexology

HeartMath™

“Within the sacred space of the heart, touch the mystery of the soul.”

One of the main founders of reflexology was Dr. William Fitzgerald.  He found that there was improved organ function and pain relief when pressure was applied to certain points on the foot.  Eunice Ingham, a physical therapist, is responsible for the foot charts currently used in the practice of reflexology.

HEALING MODALITIES

Healing Touch

Healing Touch was founded by Janet Mentgen who was a nurse with a vision.  She, along with other nurses, studied various healing modalities and created a program of hands on healing as described by Eastern traditions, Ancient cultures and modern day healers.  In doing so, she created a five level course of study which includes a rigorous certification process.  Healing Touch incorporates a variety of techniques which provide multidimensional healing.  It is offered as an adjunct to traditional medical care at local hospitals including Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

HeartMath was founded in 1991 by Doc Childre to help people incorporate the heart’s intelligence into their daily lives.  Tools used in HeartMath are research based and enable people to align and connect the heart, mind and emotions.  The techniques used in HeartMath are transformative and provide the ability to alter the beat-to-beat variability of the heart creating less stress and anxiety.

Huna

Traditional Reiki had its beginning in the early 1800’s with Mikao Usui.  Dr. Usui experienced a sudden understanding of Rei Ki energy which is translated as “spirit energy.”  Reiki is not a religion, but has roots in Buddhism, Qi Gong and Shintoism.  There are three levels of Reiki and there are attunement ceremonies which incorporate healing symbols.  Reiki involves various hand positions which complement other wellness modalities.

Beyond Surgery™

This integrative therapy program was designed by Judy Lynne Ray and Nancy Blue who are Certified Healing Touch Practitioners.  Using established protocols, clients receive hands on healing and interactive coaching to accelerate the healing process.  A client workbook is provided which includes tools to assist in preparing for surgery.  Clients are taught to shift their energy and raise their vibration.  Imagery is used to change thought patterns.  Clients learn an Anxiety Release Technique® and a Quick Coherence Technique®.  This program also includes Healing Touch sessions before and after surgery.  This program is also helpful for people preparing for dental procedures and chemotherapy.  Special pricing is available for this program

In my years as a nurse, I was amazed at the intricacies of the human body…a complex map of microscopic cells each performing a miraculous task.  The ability of the body to achieve health, heal from dis-ease and bring new life into the world is beyond anything that even science can fully explain.  Everyday there are miracles occurring within our bodies.

As we look into the body, we see blood filled vessels, lymphatic tissue, nerves, bones, muscles, organs…all part of the physical map.  These physical parameters can be evaluated with a variety of tests, which provide objective data.

The body also has a profound energetic or electrical field.  This energetic field is both within and around the human body.  This field can be measured scientifically.  It can also be objectively evaluated by an energy practitioner through the use of a pendulum or by moving the hands over and around the body.

Energy work is used to promote relaxation, relieve stress and promote wellness.  It is not a substitute for medical care provided by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants or other health care providers.

Energy work is done with the client fully clothed and involves light touch.  For clients who prefer not to be touched, the work can be done with hands placed just above the body.
